ISWN WSF - Wine Style Framework

The ISWN Wine Style Framework consists of two taxonomies, one simple called 'Popular' and a complete called 'Sommelier'. Both are consistent with one another and map to eachother. When wines are classified into the Sommelier framework by wine industry professionals, this is still useful for the consumer markets that use the Popular framework: they also get the right wines in each Popular style using the information from the Sommelier framework

The ISWN Wine Style Framework (or WSF in short) was designed to operate as a meta-representation mapping to and translating between other taxonomies. Large wine producers or retailers use other proprietary taxonomies for wine, either for public (website) or internal business use (category management).
The ISWN WSF is equipped with software to map any proprietary taxonomy and translate between these taxonomies. This again leverages the use of the classification data.
