How does ISWN relate to the eCl@ass code?

The eCl@ass code provides a standard classification scheme for electronic catalogs and standard account codes for performing in depth Spend Analysis. Its main application lies in eBusiness, more specifically electronic procurement, where it used alongside other universal product classification schemes such as UN/SPSC. It is mainly used in Germany.

eCl@ass stops at the level where it specifies a class of products 'Wine' by the numerical code 290401. The ISWN code can be seen as an extension below this level, to specify wines from a certain country of origin (by ISO code), and so on to the producer level (ISWN-P) and below.
