YYYY is the vintage (Year). This is a four digit code, millenium compatible, so wines from 1789 or 1843 can be represented unambiguously.
Special cases:
- for non-vintage wines code 0000 is used.
- for wines produced from two vintages like 1996 / 97 - code is 9697
